Is Mortal Shell II fully released?

Yes. Mortal Shell II fully released worldwide on August 20, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. This page is an August 22 launch snapshot, not a live or exhaustive issue tracker, and later updates may supersede every rollout state recorded below.

The August 17 date attached to Devout advance access was an earlier purchase benefit, not the worldwide release date. See the release, platforms, and price guide for that distinction.

What is the launch status on each platform?

All three platforms were released by August 20, but their update states differed. As last confirmed in the official Team Mortal Shell posts checked August 22, Hotfix 2 and Balance Patch 1 were live on PC, an Xbox-specific hotfix was live, and Balance Patch 1 was coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S shortly.

PlatformRelease statusLast official patch state checked August 22, 2026
PCFully released August 20Hotfix 2 live August 19; Balance Patch 1 live August 20
PlayStation 5Fully released August 20Balance Patch 1 was “coming shortly” in the August 20 post
Xbox Series XSFully released August 20

Which launch issues have reliable reports?

Reliable reports cover both officially fixed faults and dated reviewer observations, but they answer different questions. Team Mortal Shell posts identify issues addressed by named updates; August 17 reviews describe pre-release or review builds on stated platforms and do not prove the same faults survived launch patches.

Source and dateBuild and platformDated observation
GamesRadar, August 17Publisher-provided PC review buildCamera could misbehave near walls
Windows Central, August 17Pre-release PC code on two machinesCamera choice, hit-detection oddities, and bugs were noted, while both test PCs performed strongly
GamingTrend, August 17Review-in-progress; PS5 review buildStutter or frame drops in Performance mode, one hard crash, and one loss of recoverable Gloom were reported before a stated day-one patch

These are established outlet reports with their dates, platforms, and build context preserved. They are not a list of issues confirmed unresolved on retail builds, and this page deliberately omits community megathread comments. The review scores guide gives the broader critic context.

Has Cold Symmetry announced fixes?

Yes. Official Team Mortal Shell community posts announced PC Hotfix 2 on August 19, an Xbox Series hotfix on August 20, and Balance Patch 1 on August 20. Each post describes a dated rollout rather than promising that every platform received every change at the same moment.

  • PC Hotfix 2, live August 19: addressed miscellaneous crashes plus stability and performance issues, a UI lock involving the Slayer Seal and Beacon menu, and enemy weapons being stolen during ripostes.
  • Xbox Series hotfix, live August 20: addressed stability, missing Devout and preorder skins, input and beta-save issues, specific equipment crashes, and stolen enemy weapons.
  • Balance Patch 1, live on PC August 20: the official post said the patch was coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S shortly. No later primary confirmation was found by this page’s August 22 cutoff.

The wording above records what the posts said was addressed. It does not guarantee that no related or new issue can occur after those updates.

What should you do before troubleshooting?

Before troubleshooting, confirm your platform, installed game version, and update history, then compare the issue’s date with the official rollout posts. A pre-release review symptom, a PC hotfix item, and a console patch announced as coming shortly are not interchangeable evidence.

  1. Check that the platform has finished downloading and installing its latest available game update.
  2. Restart the game after an update and reproduce the problem once before changing several settings at the same time.
  3. On PC, compare the system with the official PC requirements before diagnosing performance.
  4. Record platform, game version, area, equipment, and exact reproduction steps for a useful support report.
  5. Preserve save data and avoid treating a reviewer-build workaround or anonymous megathread comment as an official fix.

Sources checked

Release and rollout status were checked August 22, 2026 against publisher pages and official Team Mortal Shell community posts. The Balance Patch 1 post says it was live on PC and coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S shortly. Review observations retain their August 17 pre-release or review-build labels and are not presented as current unresolved retail issues.
